Mauricio Cardim was born on a small town called Ipiau, Bahia - northeast of Brazil. He came to São Paulo City at 80´s do several work like bank, commerce and many more. But a hobby from holiday, photographie, grow up inside Cardim that studied on important school of São Paulol. His carrier like professional photograph begun at 1983 on the backstage from TV with the most important singers and musicians, for instance, Roberto Carlos, Joelmah, Cauby Peixoto, Erasmo Carlos, Incríveis, Elsa Soares all idols from a musical movement called 'Jovem Guarda' [see Roberto Carlos] and others important international musician as Kenny G and pop star Cristina Aguilera too. So, many covers for LP, CD, books, photos to magazine and newspaper give him experience to the following steps: exhibition and post card. On Brazil, Cardim is legendary in some aspect. His angles and style seems the great American photographer FSA [Farm Security Administration – decade 30] more specify Mr Jack Delano or miss Dorothea Lange.
The iconography specially of São Paulo City inspire him. Than, starting a new age on his carrier, now like a specialized exposition photograph. His wonderful photos like nature, building, historical churchy, railways one by one become in post card. Actually, more than 1000 images photographed by Mauricio Cardim, almost all Brazilian states, like São Paulo, Bahia [Salvador], Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro and others are usually transformed on post card. Encouraged for the work named “Um Olhar Sobre o Brasil” {A Look over Brazil} is a true crusade of the professional, that, he will be there one by one in every state and every little cities of Brazil, to after this, show to Brazil and the world a selection of the best on a magical photo exhibition.
It is not easy
Mauricio Cardim want to do photo a kind of art, and practically was the first to believe this: photo are not a simple photo, but art. Like a pioneer starting exhibition his art on several centre of culture where, normally, just fine art were accepted. He got. From museum to gallery of arts and House of Culture. On the 80`s nobody talks about photo-exhibition, only Mauricio Cardim. He has over 100 exposition on Brazil and out Brazil like Canada - Montreal [2004]. On 25 January, 2008, anniversary of 25 years of carrier and 10 as exposition-photograph. His fruitful carrier gave at now more, gave some titles of honor. No doubt, he is one of most important professional contemporary of Brazil. [F&M]
